So...here I am in Arkansas...and it has been a seriously fabulous trip. Not fishing wise...but that's a story for another day...today I have for you the story of "The Pigeon". Yes...that's right...I said FREAKING pigeon!!!
So I drove 12 hours on Monday all the way to my mother's house in Southeast Arkansas...and I drove it all in one day. I got there at early evening and slept like a baby!!!! I was exhausted!!!
THEN on Tuesday morning I woke up, walked outside, and I'll be damned if my dog didn't scare up a pigeon. A freaking PIGEON in freaking Arkansas. WTH right????
Anyways...so I immediately notice that this pigeon has a green tag on its leg with numbers and letters. So I think..."OMG this is someones bird!!! How Sad!!!" So I immediately run inside and plug in the number/letter series into google to see what I find!!! Well...I find that this pigeon is registered with the National Birmingham Rollers Club. IT WAS A PERFORMING PIGEON!!!!
At this point WTF was running through my head like a bright neon light!!!! So I search the website for a number to call, but there was none!! So I google again and come up with a random cell number that just so happened belonged to a random president of a random chapter of the this club somewhere in the USA.
He tells me that he will trace the owner but that in the meantime I should catch the bird...again, WTF??? So I say...how the hell do I catch a damn pigeon????!!!??? He informs me that I should capture it however necessary so to keep it safe...which of course I absolutely wanted to do...I mean...if it were my PET lost...I would want someone to try HARD to find me!!!! So..........
I run into the house to try and figure out how to catch this bird roaming around my mothers driveway and my eyes immediately fall on my dogs nylon travel kennel...and I think HELL YEAH!!! So I lug it outside and follow the bird around with this huge a** kennel over my head looking like a fool trying to catch a pigeon!!!! LOL....yeaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh....needless to say...the pigeon pooped EVERYWHERE so bye bye kennel...LOL ;)
Anyways...to make a long story short (and less embarrassing) I "kenneled" the pigeon. LOL...then I went inside to take a shower as the bird flu creeps me out and the guy on the random cell phone told me it could take three days to trace the owner. So I shower.........
then I walk outside and WTF...there is a cat sitting on top of the damn kennel trying to figure out how to eat the pigeon...LOL...
At that point, I realized it was time to take the pigeon to the vet for boarding...so I took it to the local vet and footed the boarding bill...but WAIT!!! Here's the best part..........
The next day the owner of the pigeon called and was so incredibly delighted and happy that I had found his pigeon that he was overjoyed and crying!!!!! He had lost her in a storm that blew the cage door open four days earlier and had been devastated!!! He was soooo excited!!! He wanted to meet the girl that had saved his pigeon and asked me to meet him at Mcdonalds after he picked up his bird and I was off the water (which sucked but again a story for another day)!!!
I agreed and went to meet him!! He arrived with a lovely, big bouquet of flowers, tears in his eyes, and a small reward for saving his bird!!! He told me that he had seen stories like this on the news but had never really believed that stuff happened!! He said that I restored his faith in the kindness of people!!! How awesome!!! What a difference a random act of kindness can make. The owner of the bird was so overjoyed that he named his pigeon....
QUEEN ELIZABETH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah...now THAT'S how I roll on vaca!!! LOL...
Happy Weekend Friends!!

@theargosgirlchronicles...I was really happy to be able to return the bird to its owner!!! It was such a joy to see the smile on his face!!! I am always happy to return a lost pet and would hope someone would do the same for me!!!!
Tip top report, old girl!
