Okay...So I Changed My Mind...

about painting the PINK LURES. Trust me...I thought long and hard about this decision. It was an important one...at least to me!!!! There were three reasons for my final decision:
(1) HOT PINK paint cost $10.00 a bottle (and I am just not convinced it is worth the money!!);
(2) I am not entirely convinced PINK is a good color for Early Spring Pike (I know...some of you love it and I could definitely be wrong...but I'm just sayin!!!); and
(3) I totally forgot that I currently own, AND tried out more than once last year, a NEON PINK and WHITE five of diamonds spoon, and I didn't catch squat on it...meanwhile my husband pulled in a 44 incher, my sister-in-law pulled in a 43 incher, and my daddy-in-law pulled in a 48.5 incher...needless to say, I quickly switched back to my ORANGE Hammer!!!
So my decision on the PINK LURES was based on my experience with all of the above, in addition to the fact that I own all of the HOT PINK spinners pictured below...and I have yet to catch a fish on any of them :(

I may still change my mind...and I am DEFINITELY keeping all of these lure in my tackle box for my Spring Pike trip!! I keep hearing great things about the pink from folks that have fished Lake Waskiaowaka, and I trust my readers aren't steering me down the wrong lure path (like some boat mates have in the past...LOL)!!!!

It was just a beautiful day, and I spent it outside. I won't lie...it wasn't the greatest of days to spend inside painting lures. I still have to paint my custom generic colored lures and slap on a couple of coats on the old Orange Hammers I have that have had the paint eaten off my MONSTERS ;)

We all know this Fisherbabe loves her pink stuff...but as I have said before, sometimes being pink just isn't enough!!! The lures have to catch great fish, the rods have to stand up to MONSTER pulls and tugs, and the rain gear absolutely has to keep me dry!!! I will take sturdy gear that I can trust in ANY color over PINK CRAP that breaks down or doesn't work anyday!!! LOL ;)

I will report back on how these pink lures do this year!!! I am particularly excited about the Spinners (since Mike's email suggested the gold/bleeding red one) and spinners are first on Dunlops list of prefered lures for early pike. BUT...who knows...maybe the PINK five of diamonds will knock my socks off!!!! Here's hopin'...

Happy Sunny Days To All~
