It has been a while since I really posted any in depth information on fishing. So, I thought today was the perfect time to get back to what really matters...MONSTER FISH!!! Everyone knows that I love Canadian fishing. I take trips up to Canada multiple times a year to search out that trophy fish that will make my life complete. The waters of Canada are an extraordinary resource for anglers looking for a wild, natural setting while catching lots of amazing fish. It never ceases to amaze me the sheer quantity of fish I catch north of the border.
Because the holiday season is upon us, and because its a season full of wishful thinking and candy cane dreams, I decided today was the perfect day to share a couple of my dream vacation spots. There are a couple of different camps that I have not had the good fortune to visit as of yet. I hope that I get the opportunity in the future, though, because these places TOTALLY ROCK OUT!!
All of the lodges listed in this post are in Manitoba. The reason I love to choose camps in Manitoba is because of the Master Angler Program. This program is amazing and rewards anglers for their dedication to the sport of fishing. I have never been so excited in my life as I was the day I received my first Master Angler certificate and badge in the mail. They have a variety of different award levels, and all consist of a different level of skill and technique to master. I am on the hunt for the Diamond Badge, myself. It's a tough task to accomplish...but someone's got to do it...LOL :)
Now on to the camps...My first dream vaca is none other than Nueltin Lake Lodge. This lodge is world reknown for being one of THE best locations to catch MONSTERS!! The lodge offers a host of ammenities including (and in my opinion THE most important) HOT SHOWERS!!!! Plus, the showers and toilets are in the cabins so you don't even have to walk outside in the freezing cold and chance getting eaten by a bear!!! It's the small things, really!! Anyways, Nueltin offers 10 fully modern cabins with fireplaces, a main lodge, 3 outpost camps, and the opportunity to catch amazing Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Arctic Char, and Whitefish. The price range is a little on the more expensive side with a 5 day trip costing $3895 per person and a 9 day trip costing $4995 per person...but just look what you get for that price. The shower alone is worth it...LOL :)
The second lodge on my list is Ganglers North Seal River Lodge. I like Ganglers. Ganglers has a facebook page, and we are friends. I check up on it all the time to make sure they aren't handing out free trips. They never do...LOL :) Ganglers offers 8 deluxe cabins WITH BATH FACILITIES, a main lodge, 7 outpost camps, and the opportunity to catch Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Walleye, Arctic Grayling, and Whitefish. As you can see, there are quite a few different species offered up by this camp. The opening day for them next year is June 4th, and they still have slots available. The cost of this lodge is similiar to Nueltin costing $4295 per person for a 7 day trip, $4095 per person for a 5 day trip, and $3895 per person for a 4 day trip. If I ever get to go, Ima go with the 7 day...I just do not think 4-5 days would be enough for me on this great lake!
The next dream spot is Edmund Lake Lodge. Now...I met Greg Dick the owner/director of this camp at the All Canada Show last year in Omaha. He was soooo super nice and chatted with us for quite a long time about Canadian fishing. I could quickly see that this camp would offer a very hospitable and welcoming vacation enviroment and immediately put it on my list. This lodge offers 5 modern cabins WITH SHOWERS and an outpost camp at Kistigan Lake. Now, I am seriously itching to get my lure in the water at Kistigan. There has been some major monsters pulled out of that Lake. These waters offer Northern Pike and Walleye...and you all know how adorable I think those little Canadian walleye are!! The pricing on this lodge is INSANELY reasonable coming in at $1800 per person for a 4 day trip to the main lodge and $2400 per person for an 8 day trip to the main lodge. Even more exciting is the price for the outpost at Kistigan. The price for a 7 day trip to this camp is only $1800 per person. Whew...I might have to add that to my Santa List :)
Another great lodge that takes me to happy, dreamy place is Webbers Lodge - North Knife Lake Lodge. This outfit is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. They offer so many different accomodations that it would take me a paragraph to tell you all of them. I will mention that they DO have showers and they offer specialty packages like Family Rates and a special Couples Retreat (with...OMG...SPA TREATMENTS!!). The types of fish caught here are Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Whitefish, Brook Trout, and Arctic Grayling. In all honesty, the rates for this lodge are what make it a "dream vacation" for this Fisherbabe. The rates come in at $3995 per person for 4 days, $4495 per person for 5 days and the outposts start at $1995 per person for 7 days. However, I would consider paying the money to visit this lake. It would truly be a once in a lifetime fishing experience.
As you can see, there are quite a few great lodges here on my little wish list. I am hoping that someday I will get to visit each one and catch a monster from them all. I suppose dreams are what make the world go 'round :)
If you want more information about any of the lodges mentioned above, here are some links that may be helpful in your search:
All of the lodges have great, informative websites that give you loads of information and pictures of all the great things that await...and if you have any trouble at all navigating through them, just email me. By now I am an expert on all of these awesome websites because I spend most of my day staring at all the pictures of all the amazing fish :)
Ooooooooo...I can't wait until May :)
Happy Dreaming ~
