to know that there are really amazing, really kind, and really FABULOUS people in the world. In case you do not recall, a few weeks ago I ran a contest called "A Fishy Tale" in honor of reaching 10,000 visitors here on my blog. You guys all posted your SUPER AWESOME fishy stories, and
http://www.random.org/ randomly selected a winner...who turned out to be InBassAngler (aka Derek).
After winning, Derek asked me to donate the majority of his prize to a local charity of my choice, and I came to you guys asking for suggestions. You gave me great feedback, and today I donated Derek's prize to the Big Brother/Big Sister Program here in Lincoln!!!
Last week, I called up the program and spoke to a super sweet lady named Melinda. She sent out some emails asking for any pair of big/little's that enjoyed outdoor time/fishing together, and got a great response!!!

This afternoon, I donated Derek's prize to Big Brother Kyle and Little Brother Paul who I am certain will put the products to good use...and as it turned out, Kyle is a tournament angler himself!!!
The Big Brother/Big Sister Program does such FABULOUS things for both the youth as "littles" and for the adults as "Bigs". It really made me happy to be able to give these guys some really great products from really great company's!!!
Thank you all so much for your suggestions and for participating in the contest. Thank you even more for reading my blog and for being such great outdoor friends!!!
Happy Fishing ~

Lizzy, you have a big heart to run the contest as it is. And thanks for helping me donate to a great cause. Thank you.
Lizzy,
Well done! Glad the prizes went to a good cause.
That is awesome! It's great to see people giving back!
Great job, Lizzy! When I was a kid I was part of that program. You picked a good one! You're awesome.
I came to your blog thru Streamside Tales. I just wanted to say I love what you did for BBBS! I'm a recent board member of our local BBBS, and my husband Steve and I are "Bigs" to Geoffrey ( or Little Brother #1 on our blog. We've taken him everywhere we go, we just integrate him into our lives. Geoffrey and his family have been part of our lives since he was 9, and he's 13 now. He loves to go hunting and go with us to work our German Shorthairs.
We're about as far away from water as we can be in Texas, so we must travel to fish. My husband loves flyfishing, bass fishing, any type of fishing. He's been all over the nation fishing, and hopefully, we'll be on the water again soon!
