UPDATE...

For the majority of this year, my heart just hasn't been into the outdoors :( I started a new job, passed the bar, and had some personal ups and downs!!!

But in the new year, one of my goals is to get back to connecting with nature in all the ways that I love. http://www.fisherbabe.com/ is important to me, as are all of the friends I have made through my blog over the years!!!

So, in the new year, I have plans to update my blog, get back to writing about all things fishing, and maybe change things up a bit to add a bit of travel and more gear reviews into the mix. Although fishing is what I love to do the most and I plan to do more local fishing this year as well as heading to the great white north, I want to update my blog and throw some new topics into the mix.

I hope that I can attract back the friends that I have lost and keep the ones that have been hanging on. Interacting with you guys is the thing I love MOST about blogging!!!

Something Special...

I GOT A NEW TACKLEBOX...and it is HUGE. It is not from PLANO because PLANO doesn't make one this big...and I needed a bigger tacklebox!! I mean come on now tacklebox makers, us serious fishing folks needs lots of lures to choose from...WE NEED OPTIONS!!! But unfortunately I am too sick tonight to do a proper post...buuuuuuuuuuut I am positive I will be back to my fabulously tacklebox totin self tomorrow...so pictures and shizzzz to come!!! Wow...have you been wondering where I'd gone???

LOL...well I am still here, and I have some news.....................

Now...for the whole time I have been blogging, I have met some pretty great people.........BUT I have had my fair share of Fisherbabe haters...and trust me do they ever hate.

I have been called all kinds of names, accused of all sorts of sins on my character, accused of stealing men/husbands/you name it, and accused of being a dumb blonde who talks way to much about feeling sexy and showing your feminine side in all outdoor activities that life offers....That is just me...that is who I am...love me or hate me...I am not changing a thing!!!

But over the years I have found that you can't concentrate on the haters...it's the lovers that are important, my friends!!!

SO I AM BACK...love me or hate me...I am still here!!! BUT NOW...as of 09/20/2011, I am an ATTORNEY licensed to practice in the state of Nebraska.

THAT'S RIGHT MY FRIENDS...instead of fishing this summer, I have been working my fabulous, but brilliant, (and sexy...that's right I said it ") fishing booty off in the library studying for the bar!!! AND I PASSED!!!!! ;)

Oh how I have missed fishing...how I have missed connecting to all my fishing friends!!! The time of studying and bar-ass kicking started in May right after my trip to Saskatchewan and only ended this week (when I recieved my bar-ass kicking scores!!!)

So I am proof that there is no reason to equate femininity with dumb (or bimbo-ness for that matter) or not to be a modern, fun loving woman who is comfortable showing her feminine/sexy side!!! :)

And the next time someone hates on me...I can just say...I am a fish lovin, tackle-box totin, ass-kickin Attorney...who the hell are you ;)

Can you tell I am PROUD...well I am...cuz, maaaaaan, that test was a bi-otch...LOL!!!

SO to kick things off, I will finally post my experiences from Oliver Lake Lodge in Saskatchewan sometime next week...and finally get back to planning for the next trip...even though the Fisherhubby is in CANADA RIGHT NOW...

Can you believe that son-of-a-(curse word) went without me??????? WTH right???? LOL...I sure hope he's having fun...he's gonna hear about this one for a long damn time ;)

Where The Heart Is...

Hello Friends!!! As you may (or may not have) noticed, I have been a bit absent from the blog world lately!!! My heart just hasn't been in it lately...and I am not so sure as to why!!! Maybe I have been too busy, too little free time and too much work to do, the new job, the laundry, or maybe I am just in a funk...but no matter the reason...the passion is just lacking at the moment to sit and write. The passion to fish will always be there...but the passion to write...not so much!!

I have been pretty busy lately...and so I attribute most of my funk to that!!! Getting into a new routine with the new job and meeting some great new folks have made my days a bit busier than they used to be!!!

I am just writing tonight to let you know that I will be keeping up the hiatus from the blog world for the next few weeks. When I started this blog, I did it because there were hardly any women bloggers and certainly there were none quite like me!!! I loved it and the people I met and I still do!!! I love all the friends I have made and cherish each and every one!!!

These days blogs are used as a marketing and promotion tool for lots of reasons for lots of people...less information and fun more what fame can I get from this...but you know...I don't wanna be famous and I don't wanna get rich...I just want to fish!!!

Sometimes, as a side effect, recognition comes from passion...and that, my friends, feels awesome!!! To find people who read your words just because you love something so much, is the greatest feeling in the world!!! However, when the need for recognition becomes more important than the passion...it is time to step back and re-assess. Lately, I have been a bit disenchanted with some of the newer blogs...(even in the fishing world although there are some super great new ones out there by some rockin fishergirls) but this disenchantment causes a lack of interest for me sometimes, and when I find my interest lacking I choose to take a hiatus and renew and rejoice in the simple task of doing what I love.

Getting back to your roots is the best way to renew your energy and move forward with renewed vigor for your passion...whatever it may be!!!

I will be maintaining my Facebook Page and my Twitter Page so feel free to keep in touch there for a while :) Happy summer my friends!!! Spend it with those you love doing something that you love to do!!! I will be back soon better than ever with a fresh new outlook...and maybe a whole new look for the blog!!!

OKAY AWESOME...

HERE WE GO!!!! THE ICE IS OFF.........SO IT IS ON!!!!!!! :)

So I know you have all been kind of wondering where the he** I am heading this year...and the answer to that is.......

NORTHERN SASKATCHEWAN!!!!!

This makes me sooooo happy for a multitude of reasons!!! First of all...it's my first trip to SASKATCHEWAN!!! We always go to Manitoba for pike but this year is different!! So it will add to my list of Canadian provinces I have visited which is AWESOME!!!

Secondly, we are visiting OLIVER LAKE (http://www.oliverlake.com/) which is amazing because it has toilets...AND HOT SHOWERS!!! You know...I can rough it with the big boys but still...

hot showers make me swoon :)

So I get to pack my shampoo and conditioner which makes me happy :) But more than that...

OLIVER LAKE HAS FOUR KINDS OF FISH TO CATCH!!! I can catch PIKE, LAKERS, WALLEYE, and GRAYLING!!! I plan on catching a monster or twenty from each species!!! OH yes...Oh yes I will!!! :)

I am so unbelieveably PUMPED UP...so if you will excuse me, I must go pack now!!! And paint my toenails...cause I heard...fishies like pink toenails!!!

And Here We Go...

the frantic calls to try and find back up locations for fishing has begun!!! This has happened every one of the last five years with the exception of last year... Think it's my Karma??? Maybe I should do some do goodin' to fix this...... LOL ;) What do you think??? Will Oliver Lake (my actual planned fishing destination) be open?? AND...will we ever find a back up????? What's New In Lizzyland...

WOW...it has really been a super duper long time since I sat down and really wrote my little heart out!!! Boy...I've missed this!!!!! For those readers who are still around...waiting patiently...if there are any left...Thank you for sticking around my friends!!! Things have been crazy around here for a while!!!! But...hopefully...I will get back to blogging on a somewhat regular basis!!!!

First piece of BIG news, I started a new job this week!!! I am working at the NDEQ which stands for...the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality!!! It's a perfect fit for me and...I LOVE MY NEW JOB!!! It is really great to work towards a common goal of reserving and replenshing the earth of its resources for present AND future generations!!! And you guys know me...I am all about saving our (and Canada's...lol) fisheries!!! It has been a bit hectic around here lately...settling into the new job and finding a new groove and routine BUT I am glad to be getting back to blogging!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Secondly, just want to say a HUGE SORRY for anyone who won one of the recent contests on my blog!! There was some miscommunications, and I am apologize if you haven't received your prize!! If this is YOU, then PLEASE send me an email (fisherbabestaff@fisherbabe.com) and I will get you a prize ASAP!!! I apologize in advance...and will make it up to you!!! :)

Thirdly...and MOST IMPORTANT...I AM GOING FISHING IN TWO WEEKS!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I am so freaking excited to be getting out of town and going fishing that I cannot even put into words how FREAKING EXCITED I am!!! I am visiting Saskatchewan this year, and I am very excited to try out a new part of Canada!! I hear great things about the camp and lakes we have selected...and plan to do a whole post on it SOON!!! Apparently, it has huge monster trophies in four different kinds of fishies so that is SUPER DUPER!!!! I plan to catch one (or more please) of EVERY SINGLE KIND OF FISH IN THE LAKE!!!! I even bought special new generic colored lures...LOTS and LOTS of new lures... LOL ;)

Lastly, thanks for sticking around kind readers!!! I promise to be better and write more posts soon...even more, I promise to GET OUT FISHING cuz I know you are all concerned about my well-being with the lack of fishing going on...I will admit...I have felt physically ill about the lack of action in that area lately.

Sassy Saskatchewan...

is where I am heading this year for the annual fishing Fisherbabe Extravaganza!!! That is right...I am totally cheating on Manitoba and trying something new and different!! AND...I hear Saskatchewan is awesome!!!!

The Lake I am heading to this year is pretty far NORTH...that means another year of praying, hoping, and waiting for the ice to go off!!! But it will be totally worth it if it all works out in the end BECAUSE...

at this lake not only will I be able to catch MONSTER PIKE but I will also be fishing for LAKE TROUT, GRAYLING, AND WALLEYE!!! That's right folks!!! This is the first trip I am going on where I will have the ability to catch all four kinds of FISHIES!!!

That means my tackle box is FULL of lures like never before!! It is quite heavy but I don't care...I NEED THEM ALL!!! Including the 100 generics that I just ordered and got in the mail!!!

I love this part of the trip...where I am planning what to pack, reorganizing the old PLANO 9606, and trying to decide what shoes to rock on the trip up!!! Hmmmmmm...maybe I need a pedicure...

Anyways...I am sooooo excited about this one...the trip up will be amazing and different as it is my first trip over to Saskatchewan!!!

Exciting things to come people...exciting indeed!!!! ;)
